In 1500s France, the calendar shifted. New Year's moved from April 1st — aligned with spring and the equinox — to January 1st. Those who kept honoring seasonal rhythms, the body's knowing, the land's knowing — were called fools.
April Fools was born the moment rest and renewal were ridiculed into hiding. We are calling it back.
